Team London from Ten Group has attended two local community events in the last two weeks to raise awareness for the Thank Your Street Cleaner campaign.
The Big Lunch, 18th of July in Central London - an annual nationwide event from the creators of the Eden project, bringing neighbours and local communities together. It was a great success, attended by many and abundant in homemade delicacies, such as authentic Argentinean chilli con carne (with kidney pieces!), Eritrean meat samosas, Italian tiramisu and much more! Our team was able to talk about the campaign to many people, who were more than happy to leave their thanks messages and have also promised to plant our special "Thank Your Street Cleaner" seeds from our branded campaign pens.
Hammersmith Open Weekend, 24th of July - a local event highlighting London's diversity and the importance of keeping the city clean in the light of the 2012 Olympics. Team London was in attendance, of course! We were also filmed and interviewed by the lovely Stuart and Tom from Thanks To.
Thanks ............... 141 Credits ............... 2 Views ............... 712 In 2 months 20 days This campaign is aimed at giving thanks to the men and women, who clean our streets, making sure that our big and busy Metropolis, that is London, is pleasant for locals and visitors alike. We rarely see them because they are up at "ungodly" hours, come rain or shine, wielding their machinery to remove all traces of human or animal waste from the previous day. If you ever had to leave your home at 5am to catch that early flight or to get to work early and prepare for a meeting, it's most likely that you would see someone from the "night army", working away diligently with their music or lost in thought. You either never gave them a second glance or, to the contrary, wondered about who they were and what their life was like. Whatever perceptions you might have about the street cleaners, it is one of the most important and underestimated jobs within the public maintenance sector and we would definitely notice their absence within a very short period of time. Think about Leicester Square on a Monday morning without the cleaners doing their bit!
With all this in mind, we’re asking you to think about your local street cleaner, whether they take away the waste from your business or make sure that the pavement is clean outside your shop or maybe you simply say hi to him/her on your way to work, please, give THANKS TO them and the great job they are doing.
