PSDS (Providing Support for Children with Downs Syndrome)

Who PSDS Are:
PSDS is a registered charity whose principle goal is to provide support for children with Down syndrome and their families. They meet regularly as families to share their experiences and provide a network of support, friendship, advice and expertise. This benefits not only the children with Down syndrome, but also siblings, parents and all family members. They also provide a range of professional services, such as early development groups and speech and language therapy, and have an extensive library of resources for members and their families to make use of.
Their aim is for children with Down syndrome to have access to the opportunities available to all others and for there to be no ceiling on what any of the children might achieve. Down syndrome is just a part of who some children are, not what they are.

Why You Should Thank PSDS:

This is a charity that deserves huge amounts of recognition, not only because they raise awareness  , but because they are there for the family as well as the child with Downs Syndrome. This ‘ThanksTo’ page is to show our support for the charity and to make more people aware of the great work that they do.

"My little brother Leo was born with Downs Syndrome in 2012. It came as a surprise as he was only diagnosed after birth. I just loved him straight away and to me it makes no difference. I think he is the most amazing and beautiful little boy. I personally want to thank PSDS for everything they do for Leo and all his friends."

The Key Aims of PSDS:
·         To provide a stimulating and caring environment in which the children can have fun and develop self confidence.
·         To provide a network of support for parents, siblings and children with Down syndrome at each step on their challenging but rewarding journey.
·         To ensure that the children receive maximum input in all key areas of development
·         To assist and support families coming to terms with the news that their child has Down syndrome.
·         To aid professionals in understanding the more practical issues which need to be addressed when assisting a family which has a child with Down syndrome.
