Breath of Life
Thanks ............... 12 Views ............... 872 In 1 month 9 days Campaign closed off 29/03/2010 Tommy’s Baby Charity 1 in 4 women will lose a baby during pregnancy and birth. Also, 125 babies a day are ‘born too soon’.
The aim of this campaign is to give thanks to Tommy’s, and the individuals within it who work tirelessly to ensure that every baby has the best chance of being born and of being born healthy.
As well as funding medical research into the causes of premature birth, stillbirth and miscarriages, Tommy's provides a free information service (via the telephone and via the web) that educates all parents-to-be about health in pregnancy.
Tommy’s was born in 1992 from the initial efforts of two obstetricians, who were frustrated at the lack of research available to them and started fundraising. Others were inspired and the charity was affectionately known as Tommy's, after St Thomas' Hospital (where the two obstetricians worked). Now, Tommy’s leads the way in maternal and fetal research in the UK with its three research centres - at St Thomas' London, St Mary's Manchester and The Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh.
If you’ve personally been helped by Tommy’s, either directly or indirectly, please share your story. And if you haven’t been personally impacted but think it is unacceptable that 1 in 4 women will lose a baby during pregnancy and birth, please give thanks to Tommy’s!
Thank you,
Team Inspire – saying Thanks to Tommy’s for giving more babies a breath of life.
